Photos & Story by Scott Anderson

What comes to mind when you think of beauty? Is it the sound of waves crashing on the shore, the cool breeze and landscape of the Tetons, a calling of a bird in the distance in the morning, the magnificent sunset over water, or relaxing on the beach on a hot summer day! Beauty is around us in every corner. With photography capturing this beauty it is one of the greatest artistic ways we can show the world how beautiful and lucky we have it in this great country of ours.

Recently on "Good Morning America" they asked viewers what is your most beautiful place in America?  Thousands of photos poured in from across the country showcasing breathtaking views, true natural beauty, unique local landmarks, jaw-dropping landscapes, many with awe-inspiring stories to match.

Believe it or not the best place was in the Midwest. Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, tucked in the northwest corner of Michigan's Lower Peninsula was voted the most beautiful place in America! It goes to show you that one of the most beautiful places is right here in the Midwest!

What is your favorite place? I want to know! Send me/upload your photos on my Facebook Page

Check out the video below on Sleeping Bear Dunes below! It truly is an amazing place.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Ways to save $$$ on Gas!

Let's face it, we all are trying to save gas these days. With gas at $3 and change at the pump the cost of living is still going up. I am constantly traveling to events and places and trying to save the best that I can on fuel.

Just this past week I saw an article on line on how to save some dough on gas. I found it very helpful for me and I thought I would pass it along to all of you SA Photography fans!

Just click on the "Caption" below the Gas icon at the bottom of the page and it will take you to designated link!!!

I hope everyone had a great week! I love updating the blog and keep looking each Friday for all the cool SA Photography posts!!!

Thanks -Scott

Peter Lik the next Ansel Adams?

Antelope Canyon, Arizona – Angels Heart. Photo by Peter Lik
When you think of photographs from "The Great American Landscape" what comes to mind?  Ansel Adams, Edward Weston, Galen Rowell
These are some of the greatest Landscape photographers of all time. Combined, there "Landscape" Photography of America is recognized by millions of people worldwide.

Peter Lik lines up a shot.
Now if I told you have you ever heard of Peter Lik you might say something like "Oh he's that photographer guy on The Weather Channel." Peter today is considered to be the Adams of the 21 Century. As a landscape photographer myself I am inspired by his shots and the way he demonstrates being in the right place at the right time "Magic Hour" to capture amazing beauty.

I never heard of Lik until watching him on The Weather Channel and I got to say I'm pretty impressed.

His show "From the Edge" is featured on The Weather Channel on Thursdays at 8pm Central. If you can check it out! It is totally an amazing show. Lik is very talented in his work. This guy makes an astonishing 30-35 Million Dollars a year!!!

Take 5 minutes out of you day and watch the video (at the bottom of this post) all about Peter and check out some of his beautiful work on his website. http://www.peterlik.com
You will be astonished!

"Ghost" Peter Lik's most famous shot. Located near the border between Utah and northern Arizona, the tranquil Antelope Canyon is named for the herds of wild pronghorn that roamed the area long ago. Water running through the sandstone over the past millennia has sculpted graceful passageways, where shafts of light occasionally shine down from “slots” above.

Hope everyone has a great weekend and I look forward to posting next week!

Also Keep sending in your photos in my "Photo of the Week Contest" too!!!
